Damon Timm and Cindy Eckert-Timm

Cindy Eckert-Timm and Damon Timm enjoy an encounter with the Zoo's giraffes.

In 2014, Cindy Eckert-Timm and Damon Timm retired from Mesa Public Schools after teaching 6th grade for 30 years. Working at a Title 1 school, ZooReach scholarships allowed each of them to bring their classrooms on field trips to the Phoenix Zoo.

"It was wonderful to watch the children experience the Zoo for the first time and connect to nature," Cindy says.

Cindy and Damon believe the Zoo plays a vital role in teaching families about their inherent relationship with nature. In their retirement, the Timms enjoy visiting the Zoo and watching people interact-especially as they learn more about the work the Zoo does to save and protect many species across the world.

Damon and Cindy support the Zoo as members of the Guardian Conservation Society and the Antler Society. They are excited to see the amazing renovations being made along the Africa Trail and have given an additional gift to The Pride Campaign.
